Gary Burton,nasceu em Indiana no ano de 1943.Aprendeu sozinho a tocar vibrofone,e aos 17 anos de idade fez a sua 1ª gravação em Nashville,Tennessee com os guitarristas Hank Garland e Chet Atkins.
Dois anos mais tarde,Burton abandonou os estudos no Berklee College of Music,para se juntar a George Shearing e subsequentemente a Stan Getz,com quem trabalhou desde 1964 até 1966.Desde então,Burton teve um percurso cheio de sucesso,tocando e gravando com os melhores músicos e compositores da nossa época.Entre os quais se destacam Pat Metheny,Ralph Towner,Astor Piazzolla,Chick Corea,Keith Jarrett,Dave Holland e Makoto Ozone(seu pianista colaborador nos passados 20 anos).

















No futuro,Gary Burton estará concentrado em actuar e gravar com "GARY BURTON GENERATIONS BAND".O seu album Generations foi lançado em Abril de 2004,e a banda gravará um 2º projecto a ser lançado em finais de 2005.
